Em hotep everyone! [In peace!]
As you know, I am a Shemsu of the Kemetic Orthodox faith. This means that I am a fully converted member that has undergone a special divination to learn my Divine Parent(s) and Beloved(s). I also received my Shemsu name, Sekhmetnenek, as a symbol of my conversion Most of you probably don't know what the Kemetic Orthodoxy is, so I just wanted to write a small introduction and supply you with links so you can learn more.
Kemetic Orthodoxy is a modern practice of the religion and customs of the people of ancient Kemet (Egypt). It was founded in the late 1980s by Rev. Tamara L. Siuda. Rev. Siuda, known to many as Nisut Hekatawy I. It is considered an African Traditional Religion, and has much in common with various African Diasporic traditions (Vodou, Candomble, Yoruba, etc.).
Kemetic Orthodoxy is monolatrous, meaning that we see Netjer (deity) as The One and the Many. Each Name of Netjer (individual God or Goddess) is an aspect of Netjer as a whole, and an individual God. Trippy, right? Each part of your body is both unique and individual (The Names) and a part of your whole person (Netjer). The KO also places heavy emphasis on ancestral reverence- the ancestors are known as the Akhu.
The Kemetic Orthodoxy's main page (www.kemet.org) has a lot of basic reading to learn about the faith. There are also forums (www.netjer.org) that allow you to read and interact with members of the faith. If you really want to know more, and could be interested in learning about it in depth, I encourage you to take the free Beginner's Course offered through the Kemetic Orthodoxy. It is totally no work at all, and just serves to teach you a little bit about the Temple
This is just a little taste! I encourage you to ask me questions, and I will make sure to answer them to the best of my ability!
