Had a mini rant on my facebook but wanted to post it here too so I can see what others think
Okay so I have some thoughts. I am wondering why we have to be accepting of christianity when they are not accepting of us and never have been. Is it that we have to be the bigger person? and why is that? Why is it that we are judged by them and shown hatred and intollerance yet as soon as we mention we dont care for them or something it is viewed by fellow pagans as being unacceptable. I mean are they not the ones who killed and tortured us? are they not the ones who burned down the library of Alexandria? are they not the ones who extinguished Brighids flame after about a thousand years of constant burning? They turned our gods into demons and monsters and as soon as we say we dont care for the christian god fellow pagans are like omg how can you be saying this. Now I am not one of those people who carries around anger about the burning times but it is what it is. And I think it should be acceptable if we do not care for christianity.

Something actually happened to me today in work which made me think about this topic. I work with the elderly, so it's very comman for one of them to tell me how important it is to be good and follow god (christian god) so we go to heaven etc for them to say "god bless" and to pray for me. I accept all this, i dont discuss it in detail with them but if they mention it to me i say things along the line of "thats something to think about" etc
There is one elderly man who adores theology and pretty much hates all religions saying "science is my religion" a co-worker of mine (a christian) went to see him today and he told her "when we die, we die, there is no blood to our brains" my co-worker had to go home as she started to cry due to what he had said as she disagrees with him.
It made me think, i tolerate the things i get told by the elderly that i may disagree with, why cant my co-worker do the same?

I don't waste my time arguing with them. I have better things to do with my time like practice my religion. I made a 2 part video awhile ago that dealt partially on this issue. Forgive my speech. I have a speech impairment. I was born a hairlip. In fact I'm more likely to rant about corrupt corporation than what the Fundies are doing. They tend to affect our country more. They are like, Go Liberals! attack the Fundies why we destroy your environment, poison/genetically alter your food, put hard working farmers out of business, convince your daughters to starve themselves to look like unhealthy fashion models, make you work for us for less than a living wage and take your money for our over price low quality products. Yes go yell at the Fundies! lol And yes I know I spelt theocracy wrong in the video. Here are quotes by Thomas Jefferson www.nobeliefs.com/jefferson.htm

I agree with a lot of things said on here. I don't worry much about what Christians think because it really doesn't matter. My personal favorite is when they judge me then I throw it back in their face. Though shall not judge only God does. I can quote the bible very well just for reasons like this. Many Christians do not appreciate this for they get their religion back at them. To be honest, one of the main reasons I dislike Christianity is because they killed to become popular. When they came over here they said they could coincide with other religions and therefor they lied. Thou shall not lie. I pretty sure they broke every commandment in the book. I due apologize for this. I could go on and on and on about my feelings but I will leave it at this for now.

Ellen: Is she okay now? old people that are hardcore chrstians are loons I tell you. How would they feel if you ran through there telling everyone they are gona die soon and nobody would care. What would they have to say? that is pretty much what they are doing to other people but whatever.
Mandy: LOL it is funny when you do stuff like that to people and then they turn around and get all mad over it.
Joe: a great vid! But what do we do if the wall basically throws it's onto your fists? just turn around and go the other way? I do not usually argue with them and I do not normally care what they say but sometimes stuff you see or hear really gives you the hump.

Ellen: I know exactly what you mean! I've been a CNA (Certified Nurse's Assistant) for 10+ years and I sooo know what you mean.. I just smiled and nodded and let them speak.. it's all most of them have left anyway.. Ahh.. alright.. this may sound bad (depending on how bad this 'rant' gets..) .. But most old people in nursing homes and similar places (or any gathering of old folks) don't have anything left.. or they don't think they have anything left. Many have given up, and frankly no longer give a shit. Many have lost their spouses, their families don't come to see them as often as they should, they have out-lived many of their friends, and sometimes when they forge a new friendship at the nursing home (cuz they are "in it together") and that new friend dies, or their family moves them to another home for whatever reason (sometimes to be closer to them), the friends they leave behind who still live at the home become even more reluctant to live life, and be friendly with others.. so they use what they have left.. their mouths, and they are prone to saying hurtful things. It is difficult to stay well composed.. and I've dealt with LOTS of difficult old people.. and some young people who for whatever reason landed a life in a nursing home (one girl was drunk driving and got herself in an accident and was paralyzed from the neck down.. and let me tell you, she was younger than me.. and a zillion times as bitchy) but.. you gotta think.. "How would I be in that situation?"
All seriousness aside.. I KNOW for a FACT when I get old... you will probably find me in the kitchen at the nursing home.. I will probably think I am in the office.. and I will be sitting holding a TV remote sideways, thumbs on top and fingers on the bottom (like a video game controller) staring at the toaster.. and complaining I can't get the internet to work.. if you have worked around old folks.. you will know what I'm talking about.. ( this is so getting copied and pasted to my facebook status.. )
