Since I'm going to be a crafts teacher i do allot of different crafts with in textile, wood and metal.
Right now I'm taking a class in weaving and a class in dressmaking and tailoring.
It's very hard to name a favorite kind if craft, but there are some crafts that i would want to learn more about. The first one i tanning hides and skins. There is allot of hunters in my family and when they or their hunting teams get to bring home an animal everything that isn't meat is usually thrown out to the foxes. So it would be nice if i could take care of the hides. I know how to tan hides using alum but I would like to learn how to do it using the animals own brain (sounds disgusting I know but it is effective). The second one is i would like to learn more about natural dye, using plants, mushrooms and roots to dye yarn and fabric. dyeing if fun but so far i have only done it with chemical pigments.

LOL well, one can use vegetable oils to but the animal fat in the brain is more effective and the hides get softer and then there is the economical and environmental thing to it. Every animal have a brain that the perfect size for its own hide. So that’s the way it has been done up until they started to use chemicals to tan hides.
And if you think the brain part is that disgusting I will not talk about the natural methods to get the hairs of or how to tan fish skins LOL
