Hi, I was hoping everyone could give help on a spell I did a couple years ago. A year after my husband and I got married we were given the opportunity to rent my aunt's grandmother's house on 9 acres of land. I was ecstatic because I always wanted that place and the idea was my husband and I were going to rent the place till we could buy it. Not long after we moved in, I cast a spell to ask the Goddess to help make the place mine. At the time we had no debt, money in the bank, and it looked like we were on our way to owning the place, so I thought asking for help wouldn't hurt. But as the year went on, I lost my job, and my aunt said she had to quadruple our rent. I told her we might be able to pay it if we could keep the horse I had at the time. She refused and we were forced to find somewhere else to live. We ended up buying a little house in a part of town I didn't want to live in. It kind of just fell in our lap as we were looking at houses.
What I'm wanting to know if because I had casted such a selfish spell that it backfired on me and gave me the opposite of what I wanted, or it's the Goddess's way of saying, learn to take care of this little place, and then we will talk? Does anyone have any ideas? I talked to my sister about it, but she's unsure.

I have always been told that you cannot ask for something specifically, if you do then it will most likely backfire. Something to do with free will. I think that maybe a better way of getting the house would of been to ask the Goddess if this was the house for you. If you did not get it, then I think it was the Goddesses way of saying something was wrong with it and it wasn't the right fit for you. If you still want that house, then take care of the one you got and ask the Goddess if the house you want is the right one for you. She will let you know, but my gut feeling says that at that time, it was not right for you. Hope this helps. Blesses Be Mystrick

Thanks Mystrick. I think you might be right. Everything is so unsure and up in the air, but bless the Goddess, I just got a great paying job that I love. I ask the Goddess for the energy, so I could do this job fast enough for them to keep me. I now know that asking for something specific is wrong. I only asked for help, so I could accomplish it myself and I worked out great. I want to thank the Goddess and do something to honor her for helping me, but I don't know what would be appropriate. I have thought about getting a tattoo of the Goddess as the mother with the tree of life and a stag in the background. I think it would be a wonderful reminder of the lesson I have learned. It would mean a lot to me. What are your thoughts about this?

Your Welcome. That would be an interesting thought, the tattoo that is. You can do that also by offering her food and wine is a good way to. However I like the idea of the tattoo to acknowledge her and to always remember. So I say go for it, if that is what you want to do. I don't have any tattoos, I've always been to chicken to get them, but one day I will get some lol. Oh and as for the design, do what you feel in your heart is best. It can never lead you wrong.

Hi there Sorry to hear you had such a terrible time. Just wanted to say that it is not wrong to ask for specific things but you have to be sure to put in there something like "if it is for the good of all and with harm to none" and it will be alright. I have heard that magic works in the easiest manner. So you wouldn't want to randomly cast a spell to own the same car as your father owns and then he dies and you inherit it. So you just need to phrase your spells right. That house obviously was not right for you at the time so the goddess found you somewhere else to be for the time being until you got yourself together. Do not be afraid to cast spells if you have the need. Phrase it right and it will work itself out. Spells generally fail instead of "backfiring". It isn't like charmed where you ask for a new job and then the universe screams "no!!! how dare you ask for something for yourself! you should only be casting spells to bring healing to the world and to "help people"." It doesn't work that way

Good point, Phoenix. I would also add that the goddess would know your intent, so even if you didnt use the rights words, the goddess would still know what you meant. I don't think your spell necessarily failed. Maybe the thing you wanted and asked for, in this case the house, wasn't the place you are meant to be at this time.
"I now know that asking for something specific is wrong" Please don't feel this way, i don't believe that to be true. Spells require intent and you need some direction for it. As long as you know what your intentions are within yourself then so will goddess.

Thank you all. I guess it really is not meant to be. The house is pending sale. I admit I am really sad by this, but, I have to trust that the Goddess knows what she is doing. I am very thankful for my job. I hope this leads to us getting a small farm. Maybe I should redo the spell to ask for a farm in general. Though I doubt we'll be able to get one for at least 2 years, so I'll have to wait that long to see if the spell even works. I got to admit I hate waiting and easily grow restless. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well it seems that something is happening at the moment so you can either wait and see what is happening or you can go for it and cast a spell but be realistic with your spell. If you know full well you cannot afford to keep a farm and the animals on it then it would be a little silly to ask for a farm. But if you are in the position to run a small farm then sure go for it and see what happens. But do be realistic. It would be like somebody that cannot hold a tune casting spells asking for a record deal, chances are, it just wont happen. You can always consult a divination tool and ask if it is the right time to work magic for this goal. If you dont use divination then get two stones...one black/dark, one white/light and use that as yes or no. Put them in a bag and ask is it the right time to use magic to achieve this goal then shake the bag pull out the stone and see. If it is no accept the no and wait a few weeks then ask again. If it is yes then go for it. Hope this helps

Keep in mind that all I am about to say are just my honest unbridled opinions, I have also been told that my methods are quite strange and/or different so please keep that in mind when you continue on.
I've always said that magic always has a price, it always works - just not in the ways you'd think, and magic always takes the most direct route. Now, I don't know how you work magic and which form you use. High or Low. Personally I work low magic and as you know they say, Low Magic - It's all in your head, you just don't know how big your head is.
Now I visualize the spell in my mind forming and taking shape; Usually I see it as an apple wood loom making green yarn into cloth. I don't call up any gods unless its a very big working, cursing someone who has attacked/harmed/slighted The Family, I have my own power and I feel that the gods don't wish to be disturbed at all hours.
In magic words are a very big thing. now I find the 'conventional' approach to word weaving to be cumbersome and easily misconstrued, rhyming words being twisted and the meaning lost. Leaving you with a pretty poem that does the exact opposite of what you intended. Now I usually, before starting, come up with a list of word pertaining to the subject matter such as in your case: Money, Lawful, Cash, Safe. Things like that, I just kinda drew a blank on words. Personally I would stay way from thoughts of inheritence, loans, and cash advancements.
Then I would weave these words into the visualized cloth/yarn, at mentally saying them one at a time until each word is being said by a different part of my mind and then being said all at once. Then I would start to bring them to a crashing crescendo in my mind and then dropping them fully into the mental cloth before letting go and letting it do it's assigned job.
Occasionally I will speak to a god and invoke them in an official capacity and it's usually something to this effect.
Hecate Propolos, Titaness, Goddess, Protectress; I raise my golden voice to you and make appeal. I pray you bless my task and make my power real. I call to you now, the She-dog. The Great White Bitch! Honored Bitch-Queen hear my words and work my will. Take my shape and fill me with your power, speak with my voice. Most favored Goddess, Second to none, Ruler of Land, Sea, and Sky, You who are both young and old and young again. Torch-bearer raise your luminecent rods and burn away the muck, let no secrets, liars, or traitors lay here-in.
I state what I need and what I demand, it is ultimately up to her if she would attend.
By the way that invocation I wrote, anyone is welcome to it. But if I could give some unsolicited advice if you are to ever work with Hecate, Go to Her as if you are an equal not as if she is your better. Also she helps those who helps themselves.

Calling a Goddess and Bitch, I would have never dared to do. Wow powerful. She hasn't sconed you for that?

One of Hecates animals are female dogs and I've never seen Bitch as an insult. Hecate and I go way back, She actually got me into the craft. When I was a little child She would come to me in my dreams and tell me things about witchcraft and in time I learned to do magic as I outlined above. She seems to take it as an affectionate title and when She has been angered I've found Her to be a very fiery woman.
