Hey everyone! I was curious if any of you have a Patron, Matron, Parent God or have any other special relationships with specific Gods? If so, how did you arrive at these relationships? If not, in your practice, are you searching for Patrons? In the Kemetic Orthodoxy, I underwent a divination and was divined a Son of Sekhmet-Hethert, and Beloved of Nebthet-Nit-Seshat. Sekhmet created my ba, or eternal soul, and because of that I have a special relationship with Her as my Mother. Nebt-het is my Beloved Goddess, and thus She has taken a special interest in my life. I am very glad to be under Their care and influence In my practice as a Wiccan, I don't have any Norse Patrons yet. I am still searching it out, even though I feel particularly drawn to Freyja. I am working on forging my relationships with the Aesir and Vanir still

I would answer but I have come up with the idea that the names of my gods should remain something only I know. Not that that is new in wicca but just something that I remembered from reading the witches bible and have just began to follow that idea.

That is definitely something people follow, and it isn't even exclusive to Wicca. In Haitian Vodou, some people decide to undergo a divination that reveals which of the Lwa is their "owner of their head." They believe that if someone wanted to work magic against you, if they knew your Lwa they could serve them better and convince them to work against you. I definitely think that idea has power

Oh really? I didnt know that. Which culture is it that has the same kind of idea but with their childrens names? They keep their childs name a secret in case a demon learns it and uses it to kill them. My mind has gone blank

Interesting to learn... could be something to share with everyone in a different link. I think if we share things like this, it will show we are more than just talk. I love this forum. Such an amazing idea.

LOL I did already post a bit on this in Rob's thread, but I'll elaborate a bit more here Odin is my patron for sure, I don't really have a matron in the norse pantheon... Freyja I think is a little put out that Odin has me, and Frigga is more of a parental sort .. like I feel that she sort of has a discriminating eye rather than a discerning one.. I was seeking a Norse Patron when Odin just sort of stepped forward. I sort of 'met up' with him during a deep meditation.. he's very.. ah.. convincing. Funny thing is.. he was wearing an eye patch.. after several different occasions that I had met with him during meditation.. he took it off.. and I looked at the socket.. and I know this is a total UPG.. but it was like a swirling madness.. every emotion every thought every voice I'd ever heard came rushing through my head like a swirling avalanche and flowed through me, but it was a bit more violent than a flow or cascade..a rushing madness that swirled and could crash though any barrier.. an orchestrated chaos.. that instance changed me.. I'd asked for it though. Loki also is a good friend of mine.. the swirling madness sort of made me understand him a bit better.. he's sort of part of Odin's madness. They are blood brothers, but those are only words.. what I experienced showed me sort of a beacon of truth to those words. Eris, is also very much in my life.. she's a totally different sort of chaos.. there is some light to her form of chaos.. in terms of the "Original Snub" when she tossed the golden apple to the wedding reception which on the apple was written "Kallisti" or "to the prettiest one" and thus the Goddesses fought over the apple... I take that to mean she really wants us to see ourselves as we are, as individuals and see beyond the masks we wear, and be a little more humble and act with more humility.. She's also taught me to not take things so seriously.. I "met" Eris after reading a lot of Discordian texts, and I asked aloud if I was a Discordian.. and when I went to sit back down my stretchy baggy comfy pajama pants RIPPED.. oh.. yeah.. I think that is a qualifying answer.. there was no reason for them to rip like that.. HAHAHAHA Brigid I definitely feel is a Matron. She more or less gave me Tristan, my son.. cuz we were having trouble conceiving, and I felt a pull to Brigid and so I did a devotional and prayer to her, and then found out a short time later I was pregnant with my son. I feel like I have a relationship of some kind with Lugh, and several other Tuatha deities.. In my practice as a Wiccan, I don't have any Norse Patrons yet. I am still searching it out, even though I feel particularly drawn to Freyja. I am working on forging my relationships with the Aesir and Vanir still
Oh, they will make themselves known.. when I was wondering what deity was 'mine' when I first became Asatru, I tried to read as much as I could on the subject, asked who I could, etc.. and one thing I had read was that one fella was sort of petitioning the gods, if you will, and a very short time later a tree in his backyard was hit by lightning.. split it right down the middle.. and so.. he knew it was Thor.. they tend to make fairly grand entrances.. I no longer classify myself as Asatru.. but I am still a child of the Norse Gods and Goddesses.. some of them I think are a little miffed at me cuz I thought when I parted with Asatru I was parting with them.. but.. when I realized I could sort of have a relationship with Celtic deities and Norse Deities (something like that would be totally forbidden in Asatru... lol) then I was okey-dokey-smokey.. I think the whole discordian thing was really what decided my departing with Asatru.. no way around it, I am a Discordian.. at least with the philosophy.. I do see Eris as a Deity, but more like an antagonist, like Loki is to a lot of people.. she's sort of the yin to his yang.. He's a lot darker and a little more fearsome.. though.. he's a good guy at heart.. deep down.. but he does require extreme caution. I.E. don't ask for a favor, unless you are paying in advance.. LMAO and don't forget to pay the piper! Ahh.. but Eris.. she's like a spring breeze in comparison.. still very chaotic still capable of ripping faces off people... but she'd make you rip your own face off before she did it herself.. hahahaha
