I wanted to expand on a subject that had been brought up in Bertie's intro. Who are the gods? Here is a chart created by ADF.
This is very simplistic. I have my own theory which is the basis for my present belief. For the record. Theories are not facts. They are possibilities that the facts seem to point to, but not yet proven.
What follow is my personal UPG.
I will start with saying I am a polytheistic-pantheist. Wiccans tend to be Duo-thiest-pantheist. Both share the pantheist part.]
As I have mention in another post, I believe the Universe is the physical incarnation/manifestation of the Source. The One.
What people call the gods, are to me the very first divine sparks born from the womb of the Universe. The First Ancestors.
But if all these beings are individuals, then how are we all one?
I think the pantheist poet Robinson Jeffers said it best:
"The Universe is one being, all its parts are expressions of the same
energy, and they are all in communication with each other."
Here is my metaphor.
Imagine you are the Universe. Inside of you are all the planets (hearts, brains, organs) and stars, etc... Imagine these are the gods. Then you have all the little cells (lesser life) running lose within you. Do they all have free will? I believe they do. You do not control their day to day activities. A single cell can evolve or mutate without your permission. But you can manipulate them and change their course.
Each and every cell in your body has the capacity to be a life of it's own. Yet it is a intricate part of what makes you. It is a micro version of you as well, as each cell within your bodies has your complete DNA print programmed into them. Each cell is a individual, yet all are one. All are you. Every religion has taught this.
I believe that without free will, the Universe could not evolve. Free will is that unknown that the Universe seeks.
The Grateful Dead have a song called "Eyes of the world".
"Wake up to find out
that you are the eyes of the World
but the heart has its beaches
its homeland and thoughts of its own
Wake now, discover that you
are the song that the morning brings
but the heart has its seasons
its evenings and songs of its own"
We are the eyes of the Universe experiencing itself, learning, growing. Yet we have our own hearts, own thoughts, own evolution.
That is what I believe and is a common belief among most Druids.
